Feature Stories

Feature Stories of Moving Your Numbers

While the five districts featured in Moving Your Numbers have vastly different demographics, they are similar in their commitment to improving instructional practice and student achievement for all groups of students. Each district has used assessment and accountability as an impetus for positive change. At the same time, each has used data not just for accountability purposes, but in an ongoing way to improve teaching and learning across the district.

As you read about the journeys of the featured districts, we hope you look for the attitudes, structures, and leadership and instructional practices used by adults across the system that are making a positive difference in students' lives. While the districts' work to continually improve adult practice and student learning is not done, each is making remarkable progress through focused, intentional action, sustainable and district-wide efforts, and the belief that they can positively affect the future of every child.

The district profiles showcased on this site are sequenced alphabetically according to district name. This sequence underscores that the work of any one district is not believed to be of greater relevance or quality than that of any other featured district. Click on a district name in the list below to be redirected to their feature story page, which includes–in addition to the content of that district’s story–a photo gallery, a summary of demographics, and links to various district resources. Downloadable PDF versions of each story are available under the Tools & Resources tab.
